Daniel Williams
Anaiwan man, born and raised in Armidale NSW.
Living on Awabakal land in the Newcastle area.
I Started my indigenous art journey around 2016. I started experimenting with my own dot paintings, and it inspired me to learn
more about my own history, culture, and the meanings and stories behind the art.
I started creating and moulding my own unique style of painting into what you see today.
My art is my way of learning and educating myself and a way of connecting and sharing what i learn with others.
I am proud to have my Awaba painting be selected as a finalist in the ‘Yapang’ Emerging Art Prize in Newcastle in 2021.
Started my own market stalls selling original art, prints, and homewares with my art on it.
Some local Woolworths stores use a design of mine for some shirts. The first was for the Variety Spin For Kids event, which led to a design for some stores to wear as a part of their regular uniform.
Launched an NFT project on the Tezos blockchain, selling digital copies of my art, and using blockchain technology to sell and create custom pieces of my work both locally and internationally.
My art journey is still only in its early beginnings. While I am gaining knowledge and understanding of my own history and culture, my hope is that everyone will learn something along the way with me through my art, and together, we can all connect.
